Hi :) I’m Clara. I tell stories through illustration and wool, and sometimes through words too. I’m originally from Volterra, but I live in the Maremma countryside, near Grosseto, where my studio is. I studied Psychology and Cultural Anthropology at university, but I have never stopped nurturing my passion for art.
During my studies, I attended an illustration course at NEMO Academy in Florence, and I have always been involved in my parents’ etching workshop in Volterra, working on my personal projects.
Little by little, my secret dream came true: one year ago I illustrated my first children’s book, and for the past two years, I’ve been living off my creativity. Today, I’m also proud to run a small online shop called Daydreaming where I share my creations and take great care of every detail with love.
My main focus is children's illustration. Immersing myself in the world of childhood allows me to reconnect with that freedom, warmth and wonder I felt as a child. I work with both digital and traditional techniques. I love expressive lines, soft imperfections and evocative atmospheres. I love experimenting with and using different techniques, choosing those that best suit each project.
I also love needle felting. Through my wool creations I like to connect with my images and my characters in a more tangible and intimate way.
If you would like to work with me just send me an email or give me a call, I’ll be happy to get in touch :)!
It has been an immense honor to be among Cornelia Funke’s Creative Guests in her Artist in Residence Program. Here’s my interview.
